Lower contact
Conformably overlies the fluvial sandstones of the Katberg Fm (Figure 2)

Unconformably overlain by the coarse siliciclastics (conglomerates/sandstones) of the Molteno Fm (Stormberg Gr). This contact is marked by a major stratigraphic hiatus encompassing the Ladinian stage of the Middle Triassic (Figure 2).

Fossils
Preserves terrestrial tetrapod fossils of the Cynognathus Assemblage Zone. The text explicitly notes that the upper Burgersdorp Formation contains faunal elements (such as Angonisaurus and Cricodon) corresponding to subzone C of the Cynognathus Assemblage Zone (Section 2.2.1).
